Thermostatic diverter valve

The thermostatic diverter valve is a device which diverts the incoming water towards one outlet or another depending on its temperature. This device is therefore used primarily in solar systems for the production of domestic hot water.

If the DHW in the solar storage tank is sufficiently hot (T > 45°C), the water will be diverted directly to the terminal devices. On the contrary, if the water produced in the solar storage tank is at a lower temperature (T < 45°C), then the diverter valve switches the outlet to a booster storage tank or a source.

The valve is available with ½” or ¾” unions.

Since the temperature of the water arriving from solar storage tanks is generally rather high, the diverter valve is used in combination with a solar thermostatic mixer suitable for high temperatures. For this reason, the DEV 02 SOL kit is available, consisting of a thermostatic diverter valve and a thermostatic mixer.

When the temperature from the solar storage tanks is greater than 45°C, the diverter valve directs the water directly to the thermostatic mixer which brings it to a temperature suitable for distribution on the basis of the set value (adjustment range 36-50°C).

If the temperature from the solar storage tanks is below 45°C, on the other hand, the diverter valve directs the water to a boiler with storage tank where its temperature is increased. The water outlet from the boiler passes through the thermostatic mixer which keeps it stably at the set temperature.

Moreover, the mixer guarantees anti-scald safety by interrupting the water supply in the event that there is no cold water supply.
